While the civil war relics are great finds, it is illegal to hunt in National Parks and National Historic sites.

Buried Treasures of New England: Legends of Hidden Riches, Forgotten War Loots, and Lost Ship Treasures

Explore the past with your Bounty Hunter metal detector. Historical relics are waiting to be uncovered all throughout the world- starting in your backyard. These finds could range from interesting to extremely valuable.

If you do a little research, you can find some great spots to hunt- even in your community. If you would rather take a Bounty Hunter on vacation, you can find amazing relics that are over a hundred years old.

Where to Relic Hunt

Many Bounty Hunter users travel the Southeastern United States looking for Civil War relics. If you plan to go on a vacation in that area, be sure to research before you leave. Libraries and the Internet have information on location of sites that are not off limits. Look for military records, maps of sites, old photographs, and soldier diaries. There are a lot of spots that you can hunt, but not in National Parks, and remember to get permission before going on someone's land.

Ghost towns are great adventures and can be found all over the United States. There are many books and web sites that can help you find one. Remember, though, there are laws and rules associated with many ghost towns still in effect. But, if you plan the excursion well, it can be fun for everyone involved.

You can also find relics in near your home. Start in the oldest part of town around old home sites, parks, churches, and schools. A little ingenuity will help you locate the best spots for the big find. You should keep in mind where people would most likely leave objects behind, like near an old gazebo or bandstand.
