HIGHLY SKILLED ELECTRONICS TECH WANTED

GENERAL INFORMATION

This is a full time salaried position for an experienced, highly skilled electronics technician to work with several other engineers and technicians assisting with production troubleshooting and participating in new product development. The employer is the world's largest manufacturer of hand-held hobby & recreation type metal detectors, located near Lee Trevino and I-10 in El Paso, Texas. Salary commensurate with knowledge and experience, within the range of $24-36K.

ABSOLUTE REQUIREMENTS

1. Ability to read a schematic, and to use test instruments such as DMM's, oscilloscopes, and LCR meters to troubleshoot both analog and digital circuits at the component level.
2. Ability to hand-build through-hole and surface mount prototype PC board assemblies.
3. Ability to use hand and small power tools to construct mechanical prototypes and test fixtures.
4. Knowledge of algebra.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS (May be waived under special circumstances)
1. Valid Texas driver's license.
2. High school diploma or equivalent.
3. Experience in CAD PC board layout, preferably with ORCAD.

KINDS OF ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS WE REGARD AS A PLUS
1. Fluency in both English and Spanish.
2. In-depth grasp of the MS Windows environment on PC's.
3. Knowledge of elementary trig and calculus.
4. Experience programming microcontrollers in assembly language.
5. Knowledge of materials and chemistry.
6. Knowledge of engineering mechanics physics.
7. Knowledge of electromagnetic physics.
8. Knowledge in geophysics and soil science.
9. Knowledge of magnetometry and/or metal detection technology.
10. Familiarity with FCC Part 15 regulations and compliance testing methods.
11. Familiarity with CE regulations and enforcement practices esp. related to electronic apparatus.
12. Good writing skills.
13. Skill in mechanical design, esp. using AutoCad or other popular CAD software.
14. Possession of an engineering degree, an EIT, or Texas PE registration.
15. Knowledge of higher mathematics esp. finite math, engineering transforms, statistics, nonparametric statistics, Bayesian statistics, and/or fuzzy logic.
16. Experience prototyping and repairing fine-pitch PC board assemblies.
17. Experience in doing customer repair work.
18. Experience in training other technicians and production people.
19. Experience in production ("factory floor") engineering.
20. Experience in the actual use of underground detection equipment.
21. Experience in the actual use of security type metal detectors.
22. Knowledge of gold prospecting.
23. Military experience.
